The diesel particulate filter plays a key role in your vehicle's pollution control system. Placed at the engine outlet, it retains the diesel particulates contained in the exhaust gases in order to burn them. These particles accumulate and sometimes end up blocking the DPF. It then becomes totally ineffective and often leads to other mechanical malfunctions.
